Nurse Wellness FAQ

  • What makes the Nurse Wellness Program unique?

    Through this program nurses have the additional opportunity of consulting with our Nurse Wellness Specialist, Margie Gale RN, MSN, CEAP; who is familiar with the professional issues unique to being a nurse.

  • Who can use this service?

    RNs, LPNs and APRNs who are not faculty members as well as their spouses, are eligible for this program. APRNs who are on the Vanderbilt faculty are seen in the Faculty and Physician Wellness Program.

  • Where are you located?

    1211 21st Avenue South, Suite 010, in the basement of the Medical Arts Building.

  • How do I make an appointment?

    Call 936-1327.

  • What hours are you available?

    8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday.

  • How much does it cost?

    All services through Work/Life Connections-EAP are an employee benefit provided at no additional cost.

  • How many counseling sessions do I have available?

    ​Counseling/coaching services for the Nurse Wellness Program are meant to be short-term and solution-focused. The number of sessions depends upon the time needed to assess and address the presenting problem. Most people see improvement within 4 sessions or less. If ongoing, longer-term therapy is needed, the EAP counselor will provide community referrals based upon specific needs and insurance coverage.

  • What kinds of issues do people talk about?

    People talk about a great variety of issues. Common concerns are depression, relationships, and stress.

  • What happens in the first session?

    You will complete some paperwork and then meet with your counselor. Information will be gathered about your concerns and you and your counselor will develop a plan to address them.

  • How confidential is this service?

    Work/Life Connections-EAP's Wellness Programs are confidential services. Our records are not kept in StarPanel. No information will be released without your written consent except in cases required by law, such as imminent danger to self or others.

  • As a manager, how can I refer a nurse to the program?

    Call 615-936-1327 to talk about what your specific needs and concerns are as they relate to your employee.
