Exemptions (Medical Center)

Annual flu vaccination is required for Medical Center faculty and staff. Exemptions are allowed for sincerely held religious and personal beliefs, and for medical contraindications such as a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) or history of Guillain-Barre syndrome following a previous influenza vaccine. (Note: minor side effects, such as low grade fever, cold symptoms, or muscle aches are not a medical contraindication to vaccination.)

Exemptions do not carry over from year to year. Beliefs may change over time, medical conditions change, and new types of vaccine become available.

THE DEADLINE FOR REQUESTING AN EXEMPTION FOR THE 2016-2017 SEASON IS OCTOBER 1, 2016.

If you request an exemption, allow 2 weeks for the review process and monitor your email for a response. If you have not received an email within 2 weeks, you may contact Employee Relations at 615-875-0833 to find out the status of your request.
