The Employee Assistance Program of Work/Life Connections-EAP is available to the Vanderbilt University staff including full-time, part-time and VTS employees and their spouses or domestic partners.
Personal and family problems can impact the workplace by affecting the employee's focus, health and other productivity issues. Vanderbilt provides resources to help employees deal with personal problems. In 1992, Vanderbilt University created a dedicated, internal Employee Assistance Program, later renamed Work/Life Connections-EAP (WLC-EAP), which emerged out of the Occupational Health Clinic in the Vanderbilt Faculty and Staff Health and Wellness Section.
The Work/Life Connections-Employee Assistance Program is like a travel agent for psychological support services. With experienced, trained EAP counselors; staff at Vanderbilt report that WLC-EAP is a great place to start to resolve personal or workplace concerns. Employees seek services from WLC-EAP to deal with a variety of issues (stress, emotional health, relationships, family, financial, alcohol, drug, legal, and other personal issues). WLC-EAP can also help an employee formulate a plan for expanding communication and personal interaction skills which may impact other workplace issues.
