Go for the Gold
Check your Go for the Gold status in the Health & Wellness Information Portal.
Vanderbilt's award winning Go for the Gold program is a comprehensive health promotion program designed to help faculty and staff lead healthier and more productive lives by identifying health risks and taking action to reduce those risks.
The annual Go for the Gold deadline to receive the Wellness Credit for the following year is October 31, 2013.*
Go for the Gold:
Health Risk Assessment – a tool to help faculty/staff identify personal health risks and ways to improve their health.
Wellness Actions Log - a self-directed lifestyle management tool for documenting actions that maintain or improve health behavior.
Game Plan for Your Health – a video that features personal interviews with Vanderbilt faculty and staff and provides practical ways to take charge of their health. The 2013 version titled Resilience: Turning Challenges into Success.
Go for the Gold levels:
Bronze ($120): Health Risk Assessment.
Silver ($180): Health Risk Assessment + Wellness Actions Log
Gold ($240): Health Risk Assessment + Wellness Actions Log + Game Plan for Your Health
A wellness credit of up to $240 per year is available to faculty and staff paying for Vanderbilt Health Plan benefits.
New this year, you will have the option of having this wellness credit applied to your Health Plan Account or applied toward a membership to the Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center (VRWC) in 2014.
Option 1: Health Plan Account
When you participate in the Go for the Gold program and elect to have your Wellness Credit applied to your Health Plan, Vanderbilt deposits the wellness credit you earn into a Health Plan Account managed by Aetna.
Looking for Health Plan Account balance information? You can check your balance on the Aetna and BlueCross BlueShield websites:

For those who have BlueCross BlueShield, the Wellness Credit will be transferred to the Aetna plan of your choice after the first of the year.
Option 2: Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center Membership
A second option for faculty and staff paying for Vanderbilt Health Plan Benefits is to elect for any amount of wellness credit earned (bronze ($10/month), silver ($15/month), or gold level ($20/month) to be applied toward a membership with the new Vanderbilt Recreation and Wellness Center.
A survey will go out to all individuals who have earned the Go for the Gold wellness credit after the October 31st deadline and will ask individuals how they want their credit applied – into the Health Plan Account or toward their VRWC membership. If the survey is not completed, the wellness credit will default to the Health Plan Account on January 1, 2014.
